The Mitsubishi Evolution VIII is a high-performance sedan powered by a potent 2.0L turbocharged engine.  The Evolution VIII was introduced to the North American market in 2004 and was the first incarnation of the Evolution lineup to be offered for sale on American soil.  The introduction of the Evolution was met with considerable excitement among automotive enthusiasts.  The Mitsubishi Evolution lineup of vehicles has a phenomenal reputation of competitiveness in rally, drag, and road racing.  The versatility of the Evolution is likely what attracts so many enthusiasts from so many different backgrounds to this one vehicle.

The Mitsubishi Evolution VIII features a front engine, all-wheel drive layout with power coming from a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine.  Horsepower is factory rated at 271 HP, but it has been suggested that actual output may be slightly higher.  Whatever the factory horsepower output, it has been demonstrated that the Evolution’s turbocharged engine is capable of producing far greater than factory horsepower with the assistance of a few choice products from the aftermarket.  Intakes, exhausts, upgraded turbos, and tuning have shown impressive gains on Evolutions.  Upgrades to the fuel and cooling systems can serve as foundations for even larger gains.

The suspension on the Evolution VIII is comprised of MacPherson struts on the front and a multi-link design in the rear.  With the assistance of all-wheel drive traction, the Evolution has proven itself a very capable handling machine on just about every surface imaginable.  Further improvements can be made to the Evolution suspension with upgrades from the aftermarket.  Popular suspension upgrades include shocks, springs, coilovers and sway bars.
