Each compound features outstanding intitial bite, a high coefficient of
friction, and extremely high fade resistance. All Carbotech products are

The XP8
compound can be used on the front of lightweight race cars (under
2400lbs) and is perfect for novice, intermediate and advanced track day
use with any tire. It is not uncommon for vehicles to use the XP8
compound for street, autocross and track day event, as the operating
temperature has a very broad range of 200°F to 1350°F. The XP8 compound
is also a great rear pad on almost any race car. Carbotech does not
recommend the XP8 as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of
dust and noise, but we have found that the pad is perfectly suitable
for driving to and from the track on.
The XP10 Carbotech's most
popular compound and the preferred compound of countless production
based race teams, both amateur and professional. The XP10 is also ideal
for advanced/instructor level track day and HPDE drivers. The XP10's
heat range goes above and beyond the XP8, rated for temperatures in
excess of 1650°F. The XP10 is not recommended for daily-driven street
use due to elevated levels of dust and noise, but they can be driven to
and from the race track, if required, on cars weighing greater than
2000lbs.
The XP12 compound is recommended for expert and advanced
drivers and is found to be most effective on race cars weighing greater
than 2400lbs and using R-compound tires; or street cars weighing
greater than 3200lbs. The XP12 is recommended for track use only and is
not recommended as a autocross or street pad, as the temperature range,
capable of 2000°F and beyond, is insufficient for street braking
duties.
The XP16 compound is one of the most extreme brake
compounds available and recommended only for expert and very advanced
drivers who have exhausted the capabilities of the XP12. The XP16 is
most effective on high-horsepower race cars weighing more than 3000lbs
and using R-compound tires. The XP16 is recommended for race use only
and not as a daily-driven street pad.
