Turbocharged engines operate best with zero back pressure in the exhaust system. Performance downpipes reduce flow restriction/back pressure by increasing the piping diameter and replacing the restrictive catalytic converter with a high-flow cat or straight pipe. The result is more power and quicker spool time from your turbo. It should be noted that any downpipe that replaces your vehicle’s only catalytic converter is for off-road use only.
