Flywheels

A lightweight flywheel is a common upgrade to a vehicle’s drivetrain and it is often upgraded along with a performance clutch.  The stock flywheel on many vehicles is rather heavy.  A lightweight replacement can help to reduce drivetrain power loss and make the engine feel more responsive to the driver.  A lighter flywheel will allow your engine to rev quicker and the reduction in drivetrain loss attributable to lightening the flywheel can actually be measured on a dynometer.  In this regard, reducing drivetrain loss is as good as adding horsepower.  Less power lost in the drivetrain equals more power to the wheels!
